About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases through cash registers and related hardware, adhering to appropriate procedures for various payment types and items sold. You will maintain the presentation of merchandise in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating products received from distribution centers and suppliers, removing damaged or expired goods, and organizing product displays. Additionally, you will be responsible for securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise to prevent loss. In your role, you will also ensure compliance with company policies and procedures by properly handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising functions, and maintaining accurate documentation. You will monitor and resolve issues in the prescription fulfillment process, which may involve processing third-party insurance claims, alerting patients to inventory shortages, and identifying situations that require pharmacist intervention. Providing excellent patient/member service is a key aspect of your job. You will assist in the prescription fulfillment process, help patients with their orders, and ensure a safe shopping environment. You will enter prescription data into pharmacy software, fill prescriptions accurately, and assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying their information and ensuring compliance with corporate policies. Your work will involve collaboration with managers, co-workers, and customers to prioritize tasks and address improvement opportunities. You will be expected to comply with company standards of ethics and integrity while executing your responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.
  • Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies.
  • Remove damaged or out-of-date goods and organize product displays.
  • Handle claims and returns in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and resolve problems in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Assist the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process and process third-party insurance claims.
  • Provide patient/member service by acknowledging needs and initiating the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Enter prescription data into pharmacy software accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders and measuring medications as needed.
  • Assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying patient information and marking prescriptions for pick-up.

Requirements

  • Must meet all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age and certification.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
