About the position

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor at AdventHealth is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the pharmacy automation systems and managing the scheduling and assignments of pharmacy technicians. This position plays a crucial part in ensuring that the pharmacy operates efficiently and effectively, providing high-quality care to patients. The supervisor will also be involved in various facility-specific tasks, including patient billing and inventory management, which are essential for maintaining the pharmacy's operational integrity. The role requires access to various information systems to manage pharmacy charge data, automated dispensing systems, and pharmaceutical contracts, ensuring that all processes are streamlined and compliant with healthcare regulations. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will supervise pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technician interns, and pharmacy interns, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes patient-centered care. The supervisor will work closely with other pharmacy staff and healthcare providers to optimize patient care and improve service delivery. This includes identifying high-risk patients and implementing interventions to enhance quality and safety in medication management. The supervisor will also provide coverage in decentralized pharmacy practice areas and maintain expertise across various pharmacy divisions, including cardiology, critical care, emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, and surgery. Responsibilities

  • Supervises pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technician interns, and pharmacy interns.
  • Manages pharmacy automation systems and technician scheduling.
  • Handles technician PDO/sick coverage and assignments.
  • Collaborates with pharmacy staff and care providers to optimize patient care.
  • Provides support to direct patient care programs.
  • Identifies high-risk patients and implements interventions to improve quality and safety.
  • Maintains patient information and evaluates patients' healthcare needs efficiently.
  • Provides coverage of decentralized pharmacy practice areas as needed.
  • Maintains expertise in various pharmacy divisions including cardiology, critical care, emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, and surgery.

Requirements

  • Three years of contemporary hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in the respective state.
  • Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or from the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a physical science, business or healthcare.
