About the position

The Pharmacy Technician position at Community Hospital involves working under the general supervision of a Staff Pharmacist to assist in the filling of prescriptions and the distribution of medications. This role is critical in ensuring that patients receive the correct medications in a timely manner. The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for interpreting medication orders, preparing medications, and ensuring that all prescriptions are filled accurately and efficiently. The technician will also transcribe and enter physicians' orders into the computer system, manage charges, and perform various associated duties that support the pharmacy operations. In this role, the Pharmacy Technician will work in an inpatient pharmacy setting, which requires a strong attention to detail and adherence to precise procedures. The technician will be expected to collaborate closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. The position is part-time and may require working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a total of 64 hours per pay period, equating to a full-time equivalent (FTE) of 0.8. Responsibilities

  • Assist Pharmacists in filling prescriptions by interpreting, preparing, and distributing medications.
  • Fill medication orders with appropriate medications for review and approval by a Registered Pharmacist.

  • Enter charges and perform associated duties related to medication management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy.
  • Completion of a technician training course or eligibility to complete in-house training program is required.
  • Basic typing skills are necessary.
  • State of Indiana licensure as a 'Pharmacy Technician' or 'Pharmacy Technician in Training' is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of medication names.
  • Ability to perform common pharmaceutical calculations.
