About the position

The Pharmacy Technician at HealthAlliance Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy department. This position involves assisting the Director of Pharmacy and Staff Pharmacists in various tasks that ensure the efficient functioning of the pharmacy. The technician will be responsible for managing inventory, which includes stocking and receiving medications, as well as accurately filling patient cassettes based on the cart fill list. This role requires attention to detail and adherence to departmental policies and procedures, particularly when preparing IV admixtures. In addition to inventory management, the Pharmacy Technician will be tasked with picking up physician orders and delivering medications and supplies on a routine basis. This involves entering patient charges and credits into the hospital's data system daily, ensuring that all records are accurate and up-to-date. Monthly inspections of all areas where medications are stored will also be part of the technician's responsibilities, helping to maintain a safe and compliant environment. The technician will assist in the development of pharmacy goals and actively participate in achieving these objectives. Regular checks of pharmacy stock for outdates are essential to ensure that all medications are safe for patient use. The role also includes assisting in the dispensing of employee prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, as well as performing general clerical duties as assigned. Overall, the Pharmacy Technician is a vital member of the pharmacy team, contributing to the health and well-being of patients through diligent support of pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with management of inventory, i.e., stocking, receiving.
  • Accurately fill patient cassettes from cart fill list.
  • Pick up physicians orders and deliver medications and supplies on a routine basis.
  • Prepare IV admixture according to departmental policy and procedure.
  • Enter patient charges and credit into hospital data system on a daily basis.
  • Perform monthly inspections for all areas of the hospital where medications are stored.
  • Assist in development of pharmacy goals and participate in reaching these goals.
  • Regularly check pharmacy stock for outdates.
  • Assist in the dispensing of employee prescriptions and OTC's.
  • Assume general clerical duties.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No experience necessary, certification by PTCB preferred
  • High School Graduate
