About the position

The Pharmacy Technician at ChenMed plays a crucial role in assisting with the practice of pharmacy in compliance with state and federal regulations. This position involves using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and ensuring a high level of quality healthcare while interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacy staff. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needed medications, and placing orders.
  • Ensure a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Enter patient and drug information accurately into pharmacy systems and fill prescriptions correctly.
  • Report prescription errors to the Pharmacist and adhere to company policies regarding quality improvement.
  • Engage with patients to resolve issues and ensure a positive experience.
  • Register sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Process claims for third-party reimbursement efficiently.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed/registered Pharmacy Technician as required by state law.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy and customer service experience.
  • Pharmacy/Medical data entry experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good math and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of ChenMed and/or JenCare Neighborhood Medical Center products and services.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology.
