About the position

Join our team as a full-time, Certified Pharmacy Tech at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, OK. This position is essential in supporting the pharmacy operations and ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist, assisting in the technical and non-clinical aspects of preparing medications for dispensing. Your role will involve maintaining competency in the compounding of sterile IV medications and participating as a reliable team member in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for completing all onboarding, training, and annual competencies to meet regulatory agency and organizational requirements. In this role, you will be trained in the compounding of non-sterile medications in accordance with USP 795 and other regulatory agencies and organizational policies. You will also be tasked with accurately restocking and replenishing the pharmacy with inventory from orders, as well as medications received from returns from the floor or automated dispensing machines. Maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment is crucial, and you will ensure that all expired, damaged, or compromised medications are removed and segregated from active inventory. Additionally, you will maintain appropriate documentation of activities in accordance with policy and assist in training newly hired pharmacy technicians. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the technical, non-clinical aspects of preparing medications for dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Maintain competency in the compounding of sterile IV medications.
  • Complete all onboarding, training, and annual competencies to meet regulatory agencies and organizational requirements.
  • Be trained in the compounding of non-sterile medications in accordance with USP 795 and other regulatory agencies and organizational policies.
  • Accurately restock and replenish pharmacy inventory from orders and medications received from returns.
  • Maintain the pharmacy in a neat, organized, and clean manner, restocking areas with supplies as needed.
  • Ensure all expired, damaged, or compromised medication in pharmacy, automated machines, and floor stock are removed and segregated from active inventory.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of activities in accordance with policy and file documentation records in a neat and retrievable manner.
  • Assist in training of newly hired pharmacy technicians.
  • Prepare sterile intravenous admixtures aseptically and in accordance with USP 797/800, State Board of Pharmacy regulations, and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy (must be attained within 90 days of employment).

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year previous hospital pharmacy technician experience.
  • National Certification (CPhT).
  • Current BLS certification.
