About the position

University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our exceptional team in the Pharmacy Inpatient department. Located in the heart of the Medical Center, University Hospital is committed to providing high-quality patient care with compassion and attentiveness. As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in pharmacy operations, assisting pharmacists in various tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the pharmacy. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in an innovative pharmacy practice model, distinct from traditional retail settings, allowing you to expand your skills and knowledge in a supportive environment. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of essential duties, including setting up unit of use medications, preparing I.V./piggyback admixtures, and filling unit dose cassettes. You will also refill and load medications into Pyxis and manage routine and emergency floor/unit stock orders. Additionally, you will handle medication requests from patients or units/clinics, respond to telephone inquiries, and perform operations in both Inpatient and Outpatient computer systems, which include prescription or order entry, crediting and charging, and label generation. This position requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all pharmacy operations are conducted smoothly and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up unit of use medications

  • Receiving medication requests from patients or units/clinics

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school/GED or equivalent experience is required
  • Two years of experience as a registered pharmacy technician (CPhT) is preferred
  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy registration required
