About the position

The Pharmacy Technician Level I assists licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications while maintaining inventory and supplies. This role is crucial for the effective operation of the pharmacy department, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and maintaining confidentiality of patient information.

Responsibilities

• Fills physician orders, medication carts, or stock requisitions accurately.
• Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas per protocol.
• Assists in receiving and stocking pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Responsible for answering telephone calls and requests at pharmacy pickup/drop off window.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and well-organized work area.
• Utilizes hospital computer system for order communication functions at all levels covered by security code.
• Enters charges and credits for patient medications.
• Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date.
• Checks patient nutritional supplement list and prepares supplements for delivery to patients.
• Maintains records or other required documentation accurately and files them in appropriate location.
• Observes all safety guidelines and adheres to policies and procedures.
• Reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacist-In Charge.
• Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, visitor, and employee information.
• Works cooperatively with all staff and is punctual and dependable.
• Performs all duties in a manner to enhance the image of South Central Regional Medical Center.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license.
• High School diploma or equivalent; college courses preferred but not required.
• Registration with the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy must be current.
• Ability to type 30 words per minute.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Moderate computer and data entry skills.
