About the position

At Valley Regional Hospital, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, affordable, high-quality care to our community. We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our team of like-minded professionals. The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in our coordinated care system, ensuring that patients receive the medications they need in a safe and efficient manner. This position is full-time and primarily involves working during the day. The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for preparing intravenous solutions and admixtures, which requires a keen ability to identify variations in medication dosage forms, volume, and dosing. Additionally, the technician will maintain inventory and billing related to medications and supplies, stock automated dispensing machines, and deliver medications throughout Valley Regional Hospital and its satellite locations. Training new employees is also a key responsibility, as well as participating in departmental and organizational performance improvement and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities. In this role, the Pharmacy Technician will perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that prioritizes patient safety and minimizes the likelihood of medical or healthcare errors. Compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures is essential to maintain a clean and safe pharmacy environment, which includes sterilizing equipment and surfaces as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares intravenous solutions and admixtures, identifying variations in medication dosage forms, volume, and dosing.
  • Maintains inventory and billing related to medications and related supplies.
  • Stocks automated dispensing machines and delivers medication throughout Valley Regional Hospital and its satellite locations.
  • Aids in training new employees.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and CQI activities.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Complies with rules, regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or the equivalent.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred.
  • One (1) year related pharmacy experience preferred.
  • High integrity and ability to follow procedures.
  • Ability to be a self-motivated learner.
  • Exhibits professionalism at all times.
