About the position

The Hybrid/Remote Pharmacy Technician position is designed for candidates residing in the Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, or Utica, NY areas. This role involves conducting medication prior-authorizations, reviewing prescription and medical benefit coverage, and improving processes for clinical staff efficiency. The position is primarily remote but allows for hybrid work arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial level medication prior-authorization
• Routes cases directly to the pharmacist/medical director for final determination
• Issues verbal and written member notification as required
• Reviews and interprets prescription and medical benefit coverage across all lines of business
• Develops and implements process improvement to increase efficiency in the review process for the clinical staff
• Contacts pharmacies and physician offices as necessary to obtain clarification on prior authorization requests and drugs being billed through the point-of-sale system and/or medical claim system.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• At least one year of recent/current Pharmacy Technician experience, preferably in retail
• Minimum of two years' experience in a health-related field is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates degree
• Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT)
