The Pharmacy Technician 2 (Pharm Tech) - Sterile Compounding position at UVA Medical Center involves preparing and delivering medications to patients and nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. This role requires a strong understanding of sterile compounding practices and the ability to work competently in both general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. The technician will participate in the training of new employees, ensuring that they are well-versed in the policies and procedures that govern pharmacy operations. In this role, the pharmacy technician will fill and deliver medications while adhering to established policies and procedures. It is crucial to ensure that adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care, and any questions or issues that fall outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice must be triaged and escalated to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as necessary. The technician will also be responsible for using appropriate systems for processing patient information and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with departmental and legal requirements. Operating pharmacy equipment correctly is also a key responsibility, and the technician may be assigned additional duties as needed. The compensation for this position ranges from $20.68 to $32.05 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months relevant experience required
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required
  • CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
