The technician will utilize appropriate systems for processing patient information and will ensure that quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements. Operating pharmacy equipment appropriately is also a key responsibility, and the technician may be assigned additional duties as necessary. The compensation for this position ranges from $20.68 to $32.05 per hour, reflecting the technician's experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Follows policies and procedures consistently.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• May be assigned other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Minimum of 6 months relevant experience required
• Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required
• CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required
• For team members hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB is required by January 31, 2022.
