About the position

The Pharmacy Technician at Legacy Health plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of Pharmacy Services, ensuring that patients receive the right medications at the right time. This position involves working under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist, preparing IV admixtures, maintaining clean-room standards, and participating in quality control activities. The technician is expected to communicate effectively, manage inventory, and adhere to established policies and procedures to ensure high-quality outcomes in patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with customers and co-workers, meeting established hospitality standards.
  • Enter medications and supplies into the computer accurately and in a timely manner to generate labels and billing information.
  • Prepare accurate reports within specified timelines and adhere to established communication channels.
  • Manage workload effectively by prioritizing tasks and maintaining organization.
  • Keep pharmaceutical inventory current, including solutions, additives, medications, and IV room supplies.
  • Prepare IV admixtures to meet specific timelines and assemble patient supply orders for timely delivery.
  • Demonstrate technical competence by adhering to policies and procedures and completing required competencies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedures, and required equipment.
  • Participate in quality assurance, quality control, and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain the work environment and equipment to ensure safe and effective products and services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current applicable state Pharmacy Technician Licensure required prior to date of hire and maintained thereafter.
  • Prior pharmacy tech/clerk experience or current pharmacy tech student or program graduate preferred.
  • IV admixture experience preferred.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and keyboard skills preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in IV admixture preparation.
  • Familiarity with electronic systems applicable to job functions.
