About the position

The Administrative Coordinator/Pharmacy Technician at PIH Health plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Retail Pharmacy and ensuring the efficient operation of the Pharmacy Department. This position involves a combination of administrative and pharmacy technician duties, focusing on maintaining productivity, compliance, and high-quality patient care within the retail pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Pharmacy with all aspects of current and future PIH Health Retail Pharmacies.
  • Perform high-level secretarial duties to assure optimal productivity of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Distribute meeting minutes, reports, and pharmacy staff reminders in a timely manner.
  • Manage temperature/cleaning logs, policy updates, and office supplies ordering/stocking.
  • Compile data for Pharmacy Audits, including pharmacy inventories and drug initiatives.
  • Sort and file narcotic sheets and submit maintenance requests for the Pharmacy Department.
  • Train and oversee volunteers utilized for administrative purposes.
  • Obtain patient information to create electronic patient profiles and enter prescription insurance information accurately.
  • Check prescription information for completeness and legibility at drop-off.
  • Retrieve and stock medications from inventory according to established processes.
  • Prepare medical insurance claims and direct clinical patient questions to the pharmacist.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior while ensuring accurate distribution of medications.

Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Active California Pharmacy Technician License
  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy
  • Minimum of one year experience as a California Licensed Pharmacy Technician in a community/retail setting
  • Minimum of one year of clerical experience
  • Two years of computer experience with knowledge of basic Windows applications and Excel
  • Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to Pharmacy needs
  • Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately and independently
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.

Nice-to-haves

  • College degree in a Business-related major is preferred.
