About the position

The Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) at National Jewish Health assists and supports staff pharmacists in the daily operations of the pharmacy. Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, the technician processes, prepares, and delivers medications and supplies, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role is essential in maintaining an organized and efficient pharmacy environment while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists customers in person and by phone in a timely, pleasant manner.
  • Processes prescription and chart orders for pharmacist verification in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Prepares all forms of medications, including sterile IVs, ensuring accuracy and verification by a pharmacist.
  • Orders, receives, stocks, and delivers medications and supplies to various areas of the facility.
  • Performs financial functions including entering patient charges and balancing the cash register.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Conducts monthly quality checks to ensure all areas are free from expired or recalled drugs.
  • Completes required competencies and professional continuing education.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of pharmacy technician experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy preferred.
  • Colorado Pharmacy Technician license required.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required.

  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
