About the position

Join our A&E Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician! In this role, that specializes in Pharmacy in a long-term care closed-door pharmacy, you play a crucial role in providing pharmaceutical services to patients in long-term care facilities. This role involves dispensing medications, maintaining accurate patient records, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards in a closed-door pharmacy environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and committed to delivering high-quality care. This is a Full-Time position working a varying schedule including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare and dispense medications according to prescriptions and physician orders and stay in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Ensure correct dosage, formulation, and labeling of medications.
  • Verify medication orders and patient information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide positive communication with healthcare providers, including doctors and nurses, to clarify medication orders and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Address inquiries from long-term care facilities and provide necessary medication information.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including medication profiles and history.
  • Document medication dispensing activities and any relevant interactions or changes.
  • Monitor medication inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking medications as needed.
  • Ensure proper storage of medications in compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance the pharmacy's operational efficiency and patient safety.
  • Conduct regular checks and audits to ensure the accuracy of medication dispensing and record-keeping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required.
  • State certification/licensure as per local regulations.
  • Prior experience in a pharmacy setting, particularly in long-term care or closed-door pharmacies, is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software and technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of drug interactions, contraindications, and pharmaceutical terminology.
