About the position

The Pharmacy Technician II - Certified Oncology at Novant Health is responsible for delivering optimal medication management in an outpatient oncology pharmacy setting. This role involves compounding and delivering hazardous and non-hazardous sterile admixtures, processing refills, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting pharmacists in various tasks. The position emphasizes teamwork and a commitment to providing remarkable healthcare experiences for patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Compounding and delivery of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous sterile admixtures.
• Processing refills to automated dispensing machines and replenishments to emergency kits and carts.
• Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software.
• Maintaining regulatory requirements for USP797/800, Board of Pharmacy, DHHS, DEA.
• Procuring medications and supplies (site specific).
• Answering and screening telephone calls and referring calls to a pharmacist when appropriate.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 Year / Associate Degree preferred.
• Minimum of two pharmacy skills (e.g., medication distribution, sterile compounding) required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in any setting with one year of experience in sterile compounding (IV and/or chemotherapy admixture) for Outpatient Oncology.
• Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of pharmacy required.
• PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire, or proof of enrollment in pharmacy school/FPEGG/FPGEC required.
• A minimum of one relevant specialized certificate/certification from approved vendor required.

Nice-to-haves

• Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration, and adverse effects.
• Experience with inventory management.
