About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician-In-Training at Avera McKennan-eHelm Campus II, you will play a vital role in the Long Term Care Pharmacy team. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the pharmacy field. You will assist in various pharmacy operations, including drug preparation, storage, distribution, and inventory management. Your responsibilities will involve working directly with patients to provide compassionate services, ensuring that their medication needs are met effectively and safely. You will participate in Avera Health's Pharmacy Technician Education Program, which consists of 400 hours of combined didactic, simulation, and experiential learning activities. This program must be completed within 12 months of your hire date, after which you will be eligible to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination. Successful completion of the program and certification will lead to your promotion to a full Pharmacy Technician role. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Pre-admitted or officially accepted student currently enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy program.
  • Registration with the state Board of Pharmacy required within 30 days of employment.
