About the position

The Pharmacy Technician Medication Coordinator at Genoa Healthcare plays a crucial role in supporting behavioral health and addiction treatment communities. This position serves as a liaison between a partner clinic and a Genoa mental health specialty pharmacy, focusing on building relationships with clinic partners and assisting consumers with their medication plans and insurance. The role is essential in promoting Genoa services to increase consumer engagement and ensure that individuals with complex health conditions receive the right medications and follow their treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with all consumers of the mental health center regarding the medication services Genoa provides
  • Recruits and enrolls consumers utilizing enrollment forms and copies of the consumer's insurance card
  • Facilitates the collection of prescriptions to be faxed to the pharmacy for dispensing
  • Ensures all consumer insurance information is up to date in the Pharmacy system and is properly charged for the medications dispensed
  • Assists consumers in contacting the pharmacist regarding all their medication questions and ensures a prompt response to their questions
  • Assists clinic staff and pharmacy with prior authorizations and Patient Assistance programs as needed
  • Monitors compliance by contacting the consumer at least monthly to ensure compliance and determine refill needs as applicable
  • Manages prescription refills by utilizing the no refill report and contacting the appropriate prescriber to ensure timely refills are completed and dispensed to the consumer
  • Handles medication delivery when needed and appropriate (only applicable in states that are allowed)
  • Checks for expiration dates on consumer's medications and house account products/standing order meds
  • Ensures that medications are stored properly, including refrigerated drugs and insulin pens
  • Checks for discrepancies such as dose changes and discontinued medications.

Requirements

  • Virginia Pharmacy Technician License
  • 6+ months of Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
