About the position

The Pharmacy Technician Medication Coordinator position at Genoa Healthcare is a vital role that directly impacts the lives of individuals within the behavioral health and addiction treatment communities. This position serves as a liaison between a partner clinic and a Genoa mental health specialty pharmacy, ensuring that patients receive the necessary support for their medication management. The role is centered around building strong relationships with clinic partners and effectively communicating with consumers to assist them with their medication plans, insurance issues, and the full range of services offered by Genoa pharmacy. As part of a coordinated care team, the Pharmacy Medication Coordinator will work closely with community-based providers to ensure that individuals with complex health conditions receive the right medications and adhere to their treatment plans. This position is not just about dispensing medication; it is about changing lives for the better by providing personalized services that lead to improved health outcomes. The coordinator will be responsible for promoting Genoa services to attract new consumers and increase the overall number of individuals served by the pharmacy. The role requires working onsite at two locations: primarily at 16 E Auglaize St., Wapakoneta, OH for four days a week, and at 720 Armstrong St., St. Mary's, OH for one day. The working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a lunch break from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. This position is essential in ensuring that consumers are well-informed about their medication services and that their needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with all consumers of the mental health center regarding the medication services Genoa provides
  • Recruits and enrolls consumers utilizing enrollment forms and copies the consumer's insurance card
  • Facilitates the collection of prescriptions to be faxed to the pharmacy for dispensing
  • Ensures all consumer insurance information is up to date in the Pharmacy system and is properly charged for the medications dispensed
  • Assists consumers in contacting the pharmacist regarding all their medication questions and ensures a prompt response to their questions
  • Assists clinic staff and pharmacy with prior authorizations and Patient Assistance programs as needed
  • Monitors compliance by contacting the consumer at least monthly to ensure compliance and determine refill needs as applicable
  • Prescription refill management by utilizing the no refill report and contacting the appropriate prescriber to ensure timely refills are completed and dispensed to the consumer
  • Medication delivery when needed and appropriate (only applicable in states that are allowed)
  • Checks for expiration dates (both on consumer's medications as well as house account products/standing order meds)
  • Ensures that medications are stored properly (refrigerated drugs are kept in the refrigerator, pen-tips are not stored on insulin pens, etc.)
  • Checks for discrepancies (dose changes, discontinued medications, etc.)

Requirements

  • Pharmacy Tech License for Ohio
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • Willing to work in Wapakoneta and St. Mary's, Ohio

Nice-to-haves

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • 6+ months of pharmacy technician experience
  • Behavioral/Mental Health experience
  • Sales & Marketing experience
