About the position
The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists and ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of medications to patients. This position involves a variety of clerical, distributive, technical, and data-gathering duties, utilizing automation and technology to maintain equipment and assist in training pharmacy team members.
Responsibilities
- Dispenses and delivers medications accurately and timely.
- Demonstrates competence in department automated dispensing and storage devices.
- Troubleshoots dispensing issues.
- Prepares non-sterile and sterile products accurately and timely, consistent with USP standards.
- Accurately enters medication orders in the computer system and navigates within the electronic medical record to facilitate patient care.
- Utilizes automation and technology to maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition.
- Addresses customer and team members' concerns accurately and timely.
- Triages phone calls from customers such as nurses, physicians, or patients, ensuring timely resolution or hand-off to another team member as appropriate.
- Assists in training and shares knowledge with pharmacy team members, residents, and students.
- Actively supports and participates in departmental initiatives, including performance improvement activities and department committees.
- Complies with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Requirements
- High School Graduate
- 1 year of experience
- Good mathematics skills
