About the position

The Acute Care Pharmacy Technician II at Providence Alaska Medical Center is responsible for the accurate filling and dispensing of medications, including oral and IV medications, to nursing units and other departments. This role emphasizes promptness and accuracy in medication management, while also maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system. The position is full-time, requiring a commitment to patient-focused care and collaboration within a diverse healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Fill and dispense oral and IV medications accurately and promptly.
  • Triaging patient orders to ensure timely medication delivery.
  • Maintain the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS).
  • Collaborate with nursing units and ancillary departments to support patient care.
  • Adhere to safety and regulatory standards in medication handling.

Requirements

  • Alaska Pharmacy Technician License upon hire.
  • Minimum of one year of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system or two years in hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified.
  • Current PTCB certification is required.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a pharmacy technician program.
  • Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
