About the position

The Pharmacy Technician at ScionHealth plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists by preparing and dispensing medications, particularly intravenous (IV) solutions. This position emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a hospital pharmacy setting.

Responsibilities

• Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations and fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules.
• Prepares labels for medication bottles and fills orders with correct medications.
• Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patients and computes charges.
• Prepares intravenous (IV) packs and generates required reports.
• Delivers IV solutions to proper locations and restocks shelves.
• Maintains inventory records and properly disposes of non-recyclable solutions.
• Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• State Certification/Licensure if required by state.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
• Basic understanding of the role of and use of a computer in processing prescription orders.
