You will gain the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the pharmacy care industry, ultimately earning a nationally recognized credential that enhances your career prospects. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. This position requires you to develop strong relationships with customers and ensure their needs are met effectively. Operationally, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy by entering patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions, and checking for potential drug interactions. You will report any prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to company policies regarding quality improvement. Additionally, you will handle cash transactions, assist with inventory management, and support the pharmacy team in various clerical duties. Your role may also involve assisting in clinical services, such as collecting and labeling samples, and maintaining good relationships with local healthcare providers. Training and personal development are key components of this position, as you will be expected to earn and maintain PTCB certification and participate in ongoing education to stay current in the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and nurses.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies and is clean and orderly.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
