This apprenticeship will guide you towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician, ensuring you maintain the high standards required in the pharmacy care industry. In this role, you will assist pharmacists under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also engage with customers, providing assistance and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. Your ability to develop strong relationships with customers will be key to your success in this position. You will be responsible for various operational tasks, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow. Additionally, you will assist in inventory management and may support clinical services, such as collecting and labeling samples. The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment and completing special assignments as needed. Continuous training and personal development are integral to this position, as you will be expected to earn and maintain your PTCB certification and stay updated on the latest healthcare developments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy environment.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy department duties.
• Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
