As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy operations. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. Your ability to develop strong relationships with customers will be key to ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty. Additionally, you will assist in pharmacy operations by entering patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow. You will report any prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to company policies regarding dispensing activities. Your role will also involve managing inventory, assisting with clinical services, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment. Continuous personal development is encouraged, and you will be expected to earn and maintain your PTCB certification through the designated training program. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling samples.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy environment.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist the pharmacist in various pharmacy duties under supervision.
  • Experience in a retail environment is preferred, ideally six months.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting and measuring medications.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control are preferred.
  • PTCB certification is preferred.

  • Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills to develop strong customer relationships.
  • Ability to handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's attention.
