About the position

The Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice role focuses on providing patient-centric care in a pharmacy setting. This position emphasizes building strong relationships with customers while assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations. The role includes participating in a recognized training program that prepares individuals for certification and career advancement in the healthcare field.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers and develop strong patient relationships.
• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers if PTCB certified.
• Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
• PTCB certification or willingness to obtain certification.
