In this role, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in various tasks, including processing prescriptions, managing patient information, and providing exceptional customer service. You will engage with customers, helping them navigate their healthcare needs and ensuring a positive experience at the pharmacy. The position emphasizes the importance of building strong relationships with patients, as well as adhering to state and federal regulations in the practice of pharmacy. The training program includes comprehensive courses and on-the-job experiences that will prepare you for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification. You will learn about pharmacy systems, inventory management, and the operational aspects of running a pharmacy. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in filling prescriptions.
  • Responsible and trustworthy in handling sensitive patient information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Good computer skills for managing pharmacy systems.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
