About the position

The Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens plays a crucial role in providing patient-centric care within the pharmacy environment. This position involves direct interaction with customers, assisting pharmacists, and utilizing pharmacy systems to manage prescriptions and patient information. The role is designed to support career growth through a recognized training program that prepares individuals for certification as Pharmacy Technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
