About the position

The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is designed to provide individuals with a comprehensive entry point into the healthcare field. This role emphasizes patient-centric care, allowing pharmacy technicians to interact directly with customers while assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations. The apprenticeship program is recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor, equipping participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to become certified pharmacy technicians and advance their careers in the pharmacy industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
• Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
