In this role, you will assist pharmacists under direct supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while performing various pharmacy duties. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians. You will also engage with customers, providing assistance and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. The position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence, as well as adherence to company policies and procedures. The training and personal development opportunities provided through Walgreens' pharmacy technician apprenticeship program are extensive. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification, attend training sessions, and acquire continuing education credits. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department and ensure it is stocked with adequate supplies.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in filling prescriptions and handling medications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Good computer skills for operating pharmacy systems.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
