In this role, you will assist pharmacists under direct supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while performing various pharmacy duties. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also engage with customers, providing assistance and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. Your ability to develop strong relationships with customers will be key to your success in this position. The role involves operational tasks such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow. You will be responsible for reporting prescription errors, adhering to company policies, and managing cash register transactions. Additionally, you will assist in inventory management and may support clinical services, including collecting and labeling samples. Training and personal development are integral to this position, as you will be expected to earn and maintain PTCB certification and complete ongoing education to stay current in the field. This apprenticeship program also offers the potential for college credit hours, further enhancing your educational qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
• Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department and ensure it is stocked with adequate supplies.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems and cash registers.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
