About the position

The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is designed to provide a patient-centric experience while assisting pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy. This role involves engaging with customers, processing prescriptions, and participating in a comprehensive training program that leads to certification as a Pharmacy Technician. The position emphasizes the importance of customer service, operational efficiency, and adherence to pharmacy regulations, all while fostering professional development through ongoing education and training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
