As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. In your role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. This position requires you to develop strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met and that they have a positive experience at Walgreens. Operationally, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy by entering patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions, and checking for potential drug interactions. You will report any prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere strictly to company policies regarding dispensing activities. Additionally, you will handle cash transactions, assist with inventory management, and may support clinical services as needed. Your role will also involve maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy environment and completing special assignments as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or Staff Pharmacist. Continuous personal development is encouraged, and you will be expected to earn and maintain your PTCB certification, attend training sessions, and stay updated on healthcare and pharmacy developments.
