As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a more patient-centric one. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. This position requires you to develop strong relationships with valuable customers and ensure that their needs are met effectively. Operationally, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy by entering patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions, and checking for potential drug interactions. You will report any prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere strictly to company policies regarding dispensing activities. Additionally, you will handle cash transactions, assist with inventory management, and support the pharmacy department in maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Your role may also involve assisting pharmacists in administering clinical services and coordinating with local healthcare providers to enhance growth opportunities for the pharmacy. Training and personal development are key components of this position. You will be required to earn and maintain PTCB certification and participate in ongoing training to stay updated on the latest developments in healthcare and pharmacy. Completing the Walgreens pharmacy technician apprenticeship program can also earn you college credit hours, further enhancing your educational qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department environment.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist the pharmacist in various pharmacy duties.
• Basic computer skills for operating pharmacy systems.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
