In this role, you will assist pharmacists under direct supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while performing various pharmacy duties. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians. You will also engage with customers, providing assistance and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. The position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and adhering to company policies and procedures. As part of your training and personal development, you will be expected to earn and maintain PTCB certification and participate in ongoing education to stay updated on healthcare and pharmacy developments. The apprenticeship program also offers the opportunity to earn college credit hours, further enhancing your qualifications in the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third-party prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.
• Assist in administering clinical services as required, including collecting and labeling samples.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in filling prescriptions.
• Responsible and trustworthy in handling sensitive information and cash transactions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills for operating pharmacy systems.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
