About the position

The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is designed to transform pharmacy roles from transaction-based to patient-centric environments. This position involves direct interaction with customers, assisting pharmacists, and participating in a comprehensive training program that prepares individuals for certification as Pharmacy Technicians. The role emphasizes customer service, operational support, and personal development within the pharmacy sector.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling samples from patients.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Must be able to assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Must complete the Walgreens pharmacy technician apprenticeship program.

Nice-to-haves

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
