Walgreens offers an innovative "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician Training Program, recognized by the ASHP and the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program serves as an entry point into a healthcare career, guiding you towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician. The program is designed to equip you with the foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences required to excel in the pharmacy care industry. You will learn to assist pharmacists under direct supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while performing various pharmacy duties. In this role, you will be responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with pharmacy operations. You will engage with customers, resolve issues, and ensure a positive customer experience by modeling and sharing best practices with your team. Additionally, you will assist in inventory management, maintain the pharmacy's cleanliness and organization, and support the pharmacist in clinical services as needed. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third-party prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain the pharmacy department's cleanliness and organization.
• Assist in developing relationships with the local medical community.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties under supervision.
• Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems effectively.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
