About the position
As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centric care in a pharmacy setting. This position involves interacting with customers, assisting pharmacists, and utilizing pharmacy systems to ensure accurate prescription processing. The role is designed to support your career growth through a recognized training program that prepares you for certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
- Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
- Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
- Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
- Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
- Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services as required.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community.
- Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked and orderly in condition and appearance.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
