About the position

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a more patient-centric one. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy duties in compliance with state and federal regulations. You will be responsible for utilizing pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy operations. Your primary focus will be on delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, engaging with customers, resolving issues, and ensuring satisfaction. You will also assist in operational tasks such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow, while adhering to company policies and procedures. Additionally, you will participate in training and personal development activities, earning and maintaining your PTCB certification through the designated training program. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services as required.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist the pharmacist in various pharmacy duties under supervision.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy systems.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
