About the position
The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is designed to transition pharmacy technicians from a transaction-based role to a patient-centric one. This position emphasizes customer interaction and relationship building while providing the necessary training and support to become a certified pharmacy technician. The role involves assisting pharmacists, processing prescriptions, and ensuring a positive customer experience, all while adhering to state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
- Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
- Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
- Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
- Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
- Assist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pharmacy Department.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
