This apprenticeship will guide you towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician, ensuring you maintain the high standards required in the pharmacy care industry. In this role, you will assist pharmacists under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also engage with customers, providing assistance and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. Your ability to develop strong relationships with customers will be key to your success in this position. The role also involves operational tasks such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow. You will be responsible for adhering to the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and reporting any prescription errors immediately. Additionally, you will assist in inventory management and may support clinical services, including collecting and labeling samples from patients. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in the performance of pharmacy duties.
• Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
