About the position

The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is designed to provide a patient-centric experience while assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations. This role emphasizes customer interaction, relationship building, and the use of advanced pharmacy systems. The apprenticeship program offers training to help individuals become certified pharmacy technicians, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge for a successful career in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
