As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharm Tech Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare system, directly interacting with customers and helping them lead healthier lives. You will be responsible for ensuring that all pharmacy operations comply with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies. Your commitment to customer service will be paramount, as you engage with patients, resolve their issues, and provide them with the information they need. Additionally, you will have the chance to participate in training and personal development opportunities, including earning college credit hours through the Walgreens pharmacy technician apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers and develop strong patient relationships.
  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in filling prescriptions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Good computer skills for managing pharmacy systems.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
