About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centered care and support within the pharmacy. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to engage with customers, assist pharmacists, and develop strong relationships while gaining valuable skills and knowledge in the healthcare field. The apprenticeship program is designed to help you earn while you learn, ultimately leading to certification as a Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist with inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist in administering clinical services, including the collection of blood/urine samples from patients.
• Maintain good relationships with the local medical community and assist with outreach efforts.

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists and engage with customers effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
