About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centric care and support within the pharmacy. This position involves assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations, engaging with customers to enhance their experience, and participating in a comprehensive training program designed to help you achieve certification as a Pharmacy Technician. You will be responsible for processing prescriptions, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations while developing strong relationships with patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Experience in customer service is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment is preferred.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Good computer skills are preferred.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
  • PTCB certification is preferred.
