About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centered care in a pharmacy environment. This apprenticeship program is designed to help you gain the necessary skills and knowledge to become a certified pharmacy technician while interacting with customers and supporting pharmacists in their duties. You will be involved in various pharmacy operations, customer service, and training activities, all aimed at enhancing your career in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist with inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
