In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and procedures. You will be responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with coaching pharmacy technicians and cashiers. Your commitment to delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience will be paramount, as you engage with customers, resolve issues, and model best practices in customer service. You will also assist in operational tasks, including filling prescriptions, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy environment. Continuous training and personal development are key components of this position, as you will be expected to earn and maintain PTCB certification and stay updated on the latest developments in healthcare and pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and nurses.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist the pharmacist in various pharmacy department duties.
• Experience in using pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and obtain patient information.

Nice-to-haves

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
