In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy duties in compliance with state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. Your ability to develop strong relationships with customers will be key to your success in this position. Operationally, you will assist in the pharmacy's daily functions, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with company policies. You will report any prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to the company's Quality Improvement Program. Additionally, you will handle cash transactions, assist with inventory management, and support the pharmacy team in various clerical duties. Your role may also involve assisting in clinical services, such as collecting and labeling samples, and maintaining good relationships with local healthcare providers. To succeed, you will need to earn and maintain your PTCB certification and participate in ongoing training and education. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in entering patient and drug information into pharmacy systems accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples from patients.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community.
  • Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies and is clean and orderly.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist the pharmacist in various pharmacy duties in compliance with regulations.
  • Basic math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Good computer skills for operating pharmacy systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
