About the position

The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is designed to transform pharmacy operations from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. This role involves direct interaction with customers, assisting pharmacists, and utilizing pharmacy systems to manage prescriptions. The apprenticeship program provides training and support to help individuals become certified pharmacy technicians, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge for a successful career in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
